[Solved] Is there a way to make default options for users?

Unread postby stevegerrish » Wed Dec 19, 2012 5:04 pm

I would like to edit the option.ini file that is installed on all of the users' computers so when they first install IntraMessenger, it already has predetermined options selected (for example: number of days history is kept = 999, alerts are set to automatic, etc.) By default, these are not set and is not ideal for our office. It would be tedious to have to tell each user to set these settings after installation.

How can I do this? Has anyone else found a way to set default options?

Thanks

- Setup options on one computers.
- Copy file options.ini
- Remove Username=
- Unzip IntraMessenger.zip into a folder
- add your new file options.ini
- zip this folder (or create your own .msi)
- share this folder to all others users

Where can I find this IntraMessenger.zip file? Is it located on the server, in the client's program files, on the website, etc?

And after I share that folder with all other users, where do they put it? Sadly, I don't know how to make .msi's so I can't make them run anything to do this.

On website : Client : zip version (no install, just unzip: portable)

I will look to auto send options.ini to client (on first startup) from server...

Oh, I always installed the client from the server URL. This makes it much more simple! Thanks!

That's what i called Übergreat, the possibility to send update of option.ini with the same method to publish clients updates...

If i can put a var into option.ini with my version Number into a section [Version].

Il could put a parameter into update.ini with the same Version number i'd put in the option.ini
And then send the upgrade of option.ini to all clients...

Possible ?

- With this version new client version (1.31D)
- replace /distant/include/get_options_1.inc byr celui-ci (after unzip)
- add file options.ini (without username=...) in folder /distant/update/ (on server)

The file options.ini is automatically replaced each startup.

Some personal option are stored in a separated file: config.ini
username, alarm, email_Notify...
(not yet for Post-It)
